Separate the collection by destination
Create a working group for one product family, article, property, or project. Keep master images in a separate folder. Put only the copies intended for publishing in the batch you will rename.
Use a list with original name, proposed name, destination page, and status. This is especially helpful when the photographer and website editor are different people. A short record prevents a renamed export from becoming disconnected from its source.
Use rules where the source is predictable
If existing filenames already contain accurate product identifiers, a simple rule can standardize spacing or add a view suffix. If the names are just camera numbers, draft descriptive names from the content and confirmed context instead.

Check the batch before replacing files
